Many women consider it helpful to avoid uncomfortable positions or tasks, to protect their abdomen with folded blanket or pillow or to place bottle of hot water over the painful region (close the bottle tightly and cover with towel to prevent burning).

You should take pain killers as required, or if you have regular, moderate to extreme pain, it is easier to take the medicine as prescribed (usually every four to six hours) on a schedule. That will help prevent extreme pain between doses from coming back.
