Women with minimally invasive abdominal surgery (laparoscopic or robotic) have minor incisions, and are typically sent home with stitches or tape strips (Steri-strips). Laparoscopic surgery is used in many forms of gynecological procedures, including removal of an ovarian cyst, endometriosis therapy, uterine fibroid removal, of hysterectomy.

Staples and other types of skin sutures are usually removed within 3 to 10 days before you leave the hospital, or in the office of the surgeon. Sutures can also be absorbable; there’s no need to remove this form of suture. Sutures that required to be inserted under the skin or inside the vagina.
